Why You Should Choose a Young Production Company

In With the New: Advantages of Working With a Young Production Company

At a time when the media landscape is constantly evolving, traditional advertising methods that once ruled the industry are rapidly losing relevance. The digital world has shaken up the industry, resulting in a virtual Wild West where all rules are off. (All I have to say is my company is named “Rodeo Show” for a reason.) In order to survive as a production company in this freshly altered industry, new thinking is a must, along with adaptations that realistically reflect the “new normal” of industry needs and budgets. While a seasoned and time-tested production company has its merits, I would argue that younger production companies can be better suited for the brave new world of digital video production and social activations.

Increasing Creative Solutions and Decreasing Budgets

Being a young production company among a sea of industry veterans requires an outsized work ethic. It’s may be harder for newer players to edge out well-known, seasoned competitors, but we do it by engaging clients with feasible budgets and innovative creative solutions. In the past couple of years, there has been a major decline in large-scale productions with million-dollar budgets, and therefore big players — previously adverse to digital work — will dive into the shark tank to bid for smaller jobs, even though working within limited budgets is not their forte. Meanwhile, young and hungry companies have always been equipped to take on projects that require increased creative solutions to generate top-tier content.

Bring Greater Value to Shoots

Not only do young production companies bring a fun, fresh perspective to every shoot, they also come equipped to shift roles and wear multiple hats on and off the set. This new era has stimulated a demand for multi-purpose creatives with diverse skill sets spanning editing, directing, gripping and sound design.  Rodeo Show, for example, signs directorial talent that brings a unique viewpoint on set that goes far beyond directing, resulting in a faster turnaround for projects and greater creative control throughout the production process. For example, directing duo Mccoy|Meyer alternate between producing and directing while also infusing their editing expertise to their work for top brands including Listerine, Reese’s, OxiClean, Verizon, and others. Other multi-purpose directors on Rodeo Show’s roster include Kevin Osgood and Oliver DeFilippo who leverage experience as a DP, editor and director to make production projects more scalable and seamless.

It’s a great time to work with a budding company, as the demands of today’s industry are truly positioning creative young companies to be strong competitors in the content creation sphere. Our fresh perspectives and strong drive not only brings dexterity and excitement, but also gives us distinct advantages that allow us to stand our own next to the long-established companies.
