Swedish Ad Agency Round and Round Offers the “Great Trump Escape”

Posted November 16, 2016

Just in case, Canada can’t take on all the Americans moving there because of the election results, a Stockholm advertising agency Round & Round is offering you a chance to submit your portfolio and relocate to Sweden.

“Here’s the thing. We heard that more than 1 in 4 Americans would consider leaving the country if Donald Trump is elected president,” stated TheGreatTrumpEscame.com.  As a Stockholm based agency with international clients, we are currently looking for native English speaking creatives. So we thought, “hey, why not give some of those American advertising people a break?”

DIVERGE talked to Erik Ström, a creative at Round & Round.

Where did this idea come from?

The American election has been an important topic also for us in Sweden, and we’ve been talking a lot about it in the office. Meanwhile, we are growing as the lead global agency for more and more Swedish clients with international presence like Fjällräven, Björn Borg, Primus, iZettle and Ikano. This means we are in the need of native English speakers. When we heard about Americans wanting to leave if Trump won, we decided to take action.randr3

When did the site go up?

We launched it on November 4.

What kind of response have you gotten?

People in general have been positive to the initiative, although we haven’t really been in touch with any Trump supporters to be fair. When Trump won the election a lot of different media stations picked it up, which has led to close to 500 people submitting their portfolios. Many very personal messages from many talented yet sad and desperate creatives.

Were you expecting Trump’s win?

No, definitely not. We can’t understand how this could happen. But now we all have to do the best of the situation. From our side we will be here to help some Americans who still want to leave when the first phase of shock is over. Our thought is to hire at least one person.
