Posted November 29, 2016

On November 28,  AT&T announced that the revolution of television is here. At an event in New York City, the company shared the launch of their new streaming platform, which will go live on November 30.

The company shared three ways to stream premium video content: DIRECTV NOW, FreeVIEW and Fullscreen. The video streaming platform will directly compete with rivals like Dish’s Sling TV, Sony’s PlayStation Vue and Hulu’s upcoming live TV service.

“It’s really important to understand, this is the foundation for how we’re going to do things in the future,” said AT&T Entertainment CEO John Stankey. “For the first time in our history, we have control of our full stack.”

DirecTV will give you a free seven day-trial period with DirecTV Now will be available through a FreeView mode.

The company is also offering promotional prices, including the Go Big” ($60/mo) package of over 100 channels for $35/month, with an opportunity to grandfather rates for as long as they use the service.

The announcement also included a commitment to exclusive premium entertainment, including the Taylor Swift Now channel and Hello Sunshine, a channel from Reese Witherspoon and Otter Media, a content company formed in 2014 by AT&T and The Chernin Group,  which will be available next year on DirecTV Now and DirecTV.
