For those people who are not looking forward to the inauguration, a group of creatives and developers have a solution for you: www.swearhimin.com, an initiative that aims to use Inauguration Day as time for action.
“Swear Him In” turns curse words into donations towards organizations that are threatened by the incoming administration. Every “fuck” is $1 pledged to The Center for Reproductive Rights, every “shit” goes to Greenpeace, and every “damn” to the ACLU. On January 20th, everyone who’s pledged to give a “fuck,” “shit,” or “damn” will flood those organizations with donations, turning their swear words into action, the website explained.
“To be able to do something helpful on Inauguration Day is empowering and even a little cathartic,” says the team behind Swear Him In. “We hope this will give people the chance to let off some steam in a positive way.”
Those who give a damn are encouraged to go to swearhimin.com to make their pledges in advance of the inauguration.

Where did this idea come from?
We were feeling angry and helpless about the inauguration and were tired of just saying “this sucks.” So we tried to channel our feelings into something positive and actionable.
Who is the team behind this?
A group of creatives and developers from SF, LA, Philly, and Boston. We did it on our own dime (for pretty much a dime) and worked fast and furious to get this thing out.
What do you hope to accomplish from this?
A spike in donations on Inauguration Day would be really nice, whether it’s to the nonprofits through Swear Him In or wherever else people want to show their support.
What kind of response have you gotten so far?
Great response organically through our social networks. It’s been fun to see people getting excited and giving a shit. We’re one @MileyCyrus tweet away from going viral. Keeping our middle fingers crossed…

Whatever cause or organization you believe in, January 20th is the perfect time to donate or do something that shows you’re invested.
Other alternatives for those who need outlets for their anger include The UnNaugural Concert, the Change.org Concert for America broadcast on Facebook Live, and the Women’s March and Sister Marches (in many U.S. cities) on January 21st.
