NBC Announces Will & Grace Revival

Posted January 18, 2017

They are backkkkkk…

Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally, are returning during the 2017-18 season for a 10 episode revival, according to a press release by NBC.

“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, in the release. “This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary — all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture — is coming back where it belongs.”

Here’s what you can look forward to:

Creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan will act as showrunners and executive producers and director James Burrows, who directed every episode of the show during its initial eight-year run, is on board to direct and executive produce.

The show will take a 20 year jump after the season’s finale, which aired on May 18, 2006. In the finale, Will and Grace have a falling-out that lasts for years. They each have a child with their respective partners, and eventually reconcile when their children (Laila and Ben) meet at college. Meanwhile, Karen’s arch-enemy Beverley Leslie makes an offer to Jack which ultimately leads to Jack inheriting Beverley’s fortune.

For those, who just can’t wait, the gang reunited in September 2016 to encourage everyone to vote.

The show, which began in 1998, was nominated for 83 Emmy Awards, winning 16 of them including Outstanding Comedy Series.
