Posted January 23, 2017

Co-founder Jia Wertz founded Studio 15 after a trip to Gulu, Uganda to volunteer in helping local women develop sustainable businesses. The inexhaustible spirit and daring of the women she met inspired her to pursue her dream and combine her two passions: fashion and philanthropy.

So she launched Studio 15, a women’s apparel brand with a conscious, their mission is to empower women in developing countries by giving them the funds necessary so they too can start their own businesses.

“Everything about the hate and lies that Donald Trump is spreading and stands for makes my blood boil, it’s even tough to talk about at times. He is simply unfit to serve. Prior to the Women’s March, I was sincerely hoping that the electoral college would cast their ballots against Trump, but now that we are in this reality, we have to stand up and make our voices heard,” Wertz told DIVERGE.

“The Women’s March was historic and it was great to be a part of it and see so many like minded women, men, and children came together to express how they feel,” she added. “Everyone was very friendly and kind to each other, it was a peaceful protest with not a single arrest; the National Park Service said that visitors were tidy and they even stacked the trash neatly and as close to the trash cans as possible.”

Wertz also enjoyed the positive energy and the creativity that went into all the signs that people had made.

“But most importantly, we have to find a way to keep this going so the administration doesn’t think that the Women’s March was it and now they can continue on with their agenda,” she explained. “We cannot allow Trump to be normalized in any way.”

Wertz and her co-founder attended the Women’s March on Washington decided to capture their favorite signs. Here are some of the best signs from the march:
