We’d all love to have the job of our dreams. However, we know we don’t become CEOs and Editor-in-Chiefs overnight. We all have to get our start somewhere, and for many of us, that start comes in the form of underpaid or unpaid internships at some of the world’s biggest publishing companies. The struggle is if you don’t come from money (which many of us don’t), trying to survive in a city like New York City on an unpaid internship can seemingly look impossible.
Various times before, I’ve spoken on my move to New York City, and how different organizations (like Colorcomm and Ed2010) lended a helpful hand in finding and securing work when I made the move to the Big Apple. And while we do believe in paying your dues, nobody should ever have to struggle to the point of stress to make their dreams come true.
With Ed2010’s Trust Fund scholarship program– which chooses winners three times out of the year–a hopeful young journalist can receive up to $1,200 to use for living, travel and whatever other expenses they incur over the course of their internship.
Why have to choose between the dream job and making it day by day? If you meet their eligibility requirements, make sure to apply by May 30th! You can apply here, and best of luck to all who apply!
