Starbucks Introduces New Cup as a Symbol of Unity

Posted November 3, 2016

As the holiday season approaches, Starbucks fans are excited for the special handcrafted holiday beverages to return. From a Pumpkin spice latte welcoming the fall to a Caramel Brulée Latte welcoming the winter holiday season, there is always something to look forward to.

According to a November 1 press release, Starbucks customers can now enjoy those beverages in a special new green cup that “represents the connections we have as a community.”

“ It’s meant to be a symbol of unity, and to encourage us to be good to each other,” a Starbucks spokesperson stated. “Artist Shogo Ota’s design represents humanity and connection, serving as a symbol for bringing people together as a united community.”

“Just drawing everybody together in one line,” Shogo said on the ’ 1912 Pike Blog. “People together. That sounds pretty peaceful to me.”

Certain Starbucks fans are angry, claiming that Starbucks is “selling out” by replacing their holiday cups with these green cups while others appreciate the effort to promote unity, especially so close to voting day.

But according to the spokesperson, “the rest of our holiday plans are still under wraps.”

Does this mean there will still be special holiday cups? Stay tuned to DIVERGE for that news.
