Lindsay, Stone, & Briggs Creates Advent Calendar as 2016 Holiday Card

Posted December 23, 2016

For their 2016 holiday card, Lindsay, Stone, & Briggs decided to create an advent calendar.

“Clickbait headlines … mid-meeting texts … Pandora ads that start with “Hey, Pandora listener!” … crappy green-screens. We hate them all. So, every day until December 25, we’re venting about them in our very own AdVent calendar,” states the agency’s Facebook page.

The team explained the story behind the idea:

Where did the idea for the advent calendar come from?
The content marketing team wanted to do something fun for the holidays, something that would be different from our client work that would allow us to really be creative. We were all throwing around ideas when someone mentioned how Advent Calendars allow for a little surprise each day. It just clicked and everyone agreed it could be a great project.

How long did it take to create?
We hit the ground running the last two weeks of November (with time off for Thanksgiving, of course) and didn’t stop until December 22.

It was pretty funny, any special moments while creating it?
We work in an open office, so everyone hears everything. One day one of the video guys was trying to explain an AdVent concept to a designer and turned in frustration to our CEO. He asked, “What’s one of the biggest risks you’ve taken at LSB?” Immediately and deadpan, the CEO replied, “Hiring you.” There was a beat and three rows burst out laughing. It was a sensational and unexpected burn.

The day the button used for the 11th and 13th arrived,  it was tough to get anything done—we spent a lot of time laughing. That button will probably continue to get used way more than it should.

Which day is your favorite?
Day 18 is funny, relatable and relevant – especially during the holidays when many of us are shopping online. Sometimes it sure seems like the ads are following us everywhere!

How was the feedback you received?

So far, the feedback has been positive. We knew we were treading a fine line with some of the days, and internally we did pull back a little on language when it got a little too blue or harsh.

Who is the team behind the idea?
The LSB content marketing team and the creative team all worked together to make the AdVent Calendar happen.
