Whisky Advocate, a print publication for whiskey fans globally has launched its newly redesigned website, WhiskyAdvocate.com,
The visually enhanced aesthetics—which are part of the overhaul that was spearheaded by Digital Content Editor Susannah Skiver Barton—provide a better user experience across desktops, tablets and mobile devices.
“We recognized a need to create an enhanced digital experience to help whiskey lovers delve deeper into their passion and the world of whiskey. The website is part of a new chapter for Whisky Advocate, as we plan on expanding our digital presence even further in the upcoming year,” said Marvin R Shanken, founder and chairman of M. Shanken Communications. In April, Shanken became Editor & Publisher of Whisky Advocate, a title he also holds at leading luxury lifestyle magazines Wine Spectator and Cigar Aficionado.
New editorial features include over 3,500 searchable ratings and reviews covering hundreds of whisky brands across all categories from scotch to bourbon, cocktail recipes, news, events and more.
Digital Content Editor Susannah Skiver Barton told DIVERGE more:
Why is this significant?
Whisky Advocate has been an established print magazine for over 20 years, but its digital presence has been less robust. The new website represents a completely new venture for Whisky Advocate with tons of exclusive digital content that supplements the high-quality articles and stories in the print publication.
How will this help your publication?
The new website strengthens Whisky Advocate’s position as the leading spirits magazine in America. Whisky Advocate is published four times a year, but our website is updated daily, keeping up with everything that’s going on in the world of whisky. With the latest news, fresh stories, and value-added content like video, WhiskyAdvocate.com will give our subscribers even more ways to make whisky a part of their lives.
What kind of response have you gotten?
The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Readers are delighted by our new look and the original content featured on the site, while brands and companies are excited about the new ways we’re telling the stories of the whisky world.
Why is it so important to focus on digital?
While readers love Whisky Advocate magazine, it doesn’t fit in their pocket, unlike a smartphone. Offering great digital content—including stories from the print issue—means whisky lovers can get answers to their questions, stay up to date on the latest news, and access a host of useful articles from any device at any time.
