For those on the road or traveling, Watchfire billboards made an option available for their customers to turn their digital billboards in to a live score board for the Super Bowl. Owners of Watchfire digital billboards were able to download free widgets to integrate up-to-the-minute football scores for the big game.
“The biggest game of the football season always attracts a lot of attention. We believe that using RSS feeds for real-time score updates is a fun and engaging way to help our customers draw additional interest to their digital billboards and LED signs,” said Darrin Friskney, vice president at Watchfire Signs, in a statement.
The football widget campaign is the latest program from Watchfire designed to make it easy for Watchfire’s customers to implement dynamic campaigns on their digital billboards and on premise signs. The company has provided free templates for events like Mother’s Day, college commencements, shopping days until Christmas and others that allow operators and advertisers to take advantage of the unique dynamic capabilities that digital outdoor provides.

How is this significant for Watchfire billboard advertisers?
Widgets allow billboard operators to attract more attention to their displays and because of that, increase interest in the advertisements displayed. As advertising becomes more interactive, this allows advertisers to partner with billboard operators who can best optimize their messaging strategy to get the highest visibility for their ads.
Has this been done before?
Watchfire has developed other real-time widgets for use on digital billboards, including providing medal counts during last year’s summer games and the U. S. presidential election in November, 2016.
What kind of response have you gotten from it?
The widgets received a tremendous response from billboard operators across the country. One described the benefits of dynamic content as allowing the industry to harness the full capabilities of digitals, and opening up all types of new customers and account categories. Dynamic capabilities in digital billboards are revolutionizing the advertising industry. Consumers expect a media experience that is individualized and delivers a connection to products. The highly desirable millennial demographic distrusts traditional advertising and puts more credibility in word-of-mouth experiences, even if that comes through a digital community. Consumers now expect a collective shared experience that will draw them to a particular brand or campaign. Digital billboards are an integral part of these new campaigns.
